These are bullet points from the first vaguely blog related thing I ever wrote. Much of what I had written has gone to crap and is no longer true. But some of it is. These are the pieces that still ring true, cut and pasted out of the original, with no real context. Word for word & with no edits. The real blog post is gone off the internet as far as I’m aware, and the original is definitely gone. There’s a lot of reasons I deleted the original post, not the least of which is that it was poorly written. But these are some pull-quotes from that post that are still true because it’s not so much a ‘me-thought’ as it is a true thing that we can see in scripture. so, have fun ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

· I understand the need to be filled up before you can pour out into others; that being poured into and flourishing ministry go hand in hand. But despite knowing that, more often than not I find myself not allowing others to pour into me. I often refuse to ask for help or to be helped; moreover I often refuse to be loved or encouraged.

· But God is good.

· No, in fact my refusal to be loved got worse.

· The biggest part of my motivation for excellence was not wanting to fail the people around me;

· But fear is a terrible motivator, and it will always leave you stranded in your insecurities and continually dissatisfied.

· true and Right leadership always looks like laying yourself down,

· Jay, who has been my big brother in so many ways,

· I learned the value of having people who teach me the surpassing value of Jesus.

· Ultimately, we are all too good at listening to voices that aren’t God’s.
